OUR COFFEE
FAIR, SUSTAINABLE, CAREFULLY ROASTED
TRADED FAIRLY,
DIRECT RELATIONSHIPS
We see our value chain as a chain of appreciation. Everyone in it is treated respectfully, fairly and at eye level.
We attach great importance to direct contact and friendly relationships with coffee farmers in the countries of origin.
The people behind the coffee play a major role for us. Through regular visits to the coffee fincas, we get first-hand impressions of the living conditions, working conditions and the importance of coffee for the people.
An essential factor here is appreciation in the form of fair prices for high-quality green coffee. We currently pay an average of just under €5.00 per kilogram of green coffee. In comparison: the world market price (fluctuating) for green coffee is about 2.00€ per kg; the Fair Trade price lies at approx. 2.80€ per kg.
Our coffee beans are traded directly with the coffee fincas and without intermediary traders; this means that the coffee farmers benefit the most.

CAREFUL, TRADITIONAL DRUM ROASTING
To create our Bean United coffee from high-quality green coffee, a quality-conscious and gentle roasting process is required.
We rely on the traditional, gentle drum roasting process. This process is characterized by:
-
Roasting in small batches (approx. 40kg)
-
Low roasting temperature (approx. 180-200°C)
-
Long roasting duration (approx. 12-16 minutes)
-
Constant monitoring of the roasting profile by master roasters
This represents a significant and decisive difference from industrial roasting; in industrial roasting, huge quantities of green coffee are roasted at high temperatures (approx. 600-800°C) and in a fast process (approx. 5 minutes). The high temperatures burn off aromas and the short roasting times mean that unwanted acids and bitter substances can only escape to a limited extent.
Thus, the traditional roasting process stands for::
-
Craftsmanship instead of automation
-
Individual taste
-
Varied flavors
-
Full-bodied taste
-
Appreciation for coffee farmers
